Each clean recovers a portion of the flux. The proportion recovered determines how long the element remains in service.

Where a path exists, mineral oil becomes a food-safety consideration. Where none exists, mineral oil is the correct specification. The determination belongs to the plant's HACCP team.
Synthetic grades are documented to run up to four times longer than mineral at elevated ambient temperature.

A plant at 45 °C in heavy dust and high humidity meets none of the stated conditions. By the manufacturer's own definition, the published interval does not apply to it.
The manufacturer specifies the alternative: analyse the oil every 500 operating hours and establish the interval from the result.

A motor driving a constant load draws current in inverse proportion to supply voltage. When the supply sags, the load does not. The motor makes up the difference in current, and the winding makes up the difference in heat.
It fails years early. Above the rated hot-spot, insulation life halves for roughly every 10 °C — a relationship published for a century and still the basis of every motor thermal class.
A winding running 30 °C over its rating reaches the end of its life in one eighth of the time. Nothing about the motor looks wrong while it happens.
