Identification

A photograph of the nameplate is enough. Part numbers are not published on this site. The nameplate carries the model, the build and the serial, and those three identify every consumable and wear part on the machine.

Where the nameplate is unreadable, a photograph of the equipment and the plant tag number are normally sufficient. The quotation states the genuine part, its origin and its lead time.

The technical position

Surface preparation, film thickness and the overcoat window

Steel in a hot, humid, salt-laden coastal environment is lost to corrosion rather than to load. The protection is a film measured in microns, and three factors determine whether it performs.

FactorPosition
Surface preparationThe largest single cause of premature coating failure. A correctly specified product over a poorly prepared surface will fail.
Dry film thicknessSpecified and measured, not estimated. Under-application is not visible on completion.
Overcoat windowCoats applied outside the window do not bond. At 45 °C the window is shorter than the temperate figure on the data sheet.
Before the order is placed

Coatings are classified as dangerous goods and move on a DG-certified forwarder. Application follows the specification rather than the prevailing weather. We confirm both before the order is placed, because a coating applied outside its specification performs worse than no coating, and the tin is not what failed.

What is actually happening

Corrosion creep from a scribe

A scribe is cut through the film and both panels are exposed to salt air at 45 °C. Corrosion advances beneath the coating from the damage. The surface above it remains intact in appearance.
