Identification

A photograph of the nameplate is enough. Part numbers are not published on this site. The nameplate carries the model, the build and the serial, and those three identify every consumable and wear part on the machine.

Where the nameplate is unreadable, a photograph of the equipment and the plant tag number are normally sufficient. The quotation states the genuine part, its origin and its lead time.

The technical position

Low-value parts, high-value outages

None of the parts in this category is expensive. They account for a disproportionate share of unplanned line stops, and for most emergency airfreight consignments.

PartFailure mode in this environment
Drive beltsHeat and UV harden the rubber. Tension is lost well before the belt breaks.
BearingsWashdown drives water past the seal. In a food plant the cleaning regime is the principal load.
Pneumatic cylindersCompressed air carries moisture and oil. In high humidity the dryer determines cylinder life.
CouplingsDesigned as a sacrificial element, and rarely held in stock.

These lines are predictable and inexpensive, which is what makes them suitable for a planned annual order.

Belt tension against slip

A belt relaxes before it fails. Lost tension produces slip under load, slip generates heat, and heat accelerates the loss of tension.
